Abstract
This document aims to go beyond a superficial review of the legal provisions, seeking to explore the protection and safeguarding of the fundamental rights of each individual as an essential pillar for the construction of a just and equitable society for those people who, facing catastrophic diseases, find themselves in a position of significant vulnerability in Ecuador. The analysis of the document aims to contribute to the constructive dialogue and the formulation of policies that strengthen the protection of the rights of vulnerable people in the Ecuadorian public sector. The structure of the analysis will cover the legal framework to the practical implementation of occasional services. In order to identify the results, a review of current literature is used. It was identified that there are gaps in the current legislation that do not provide adequate protection to vulnerable people in a situation of catastrophic illness. Also, there is a need for legislative reforms and more equitable labor policies with greater social awareness.
