Motivation as a driver of job performance in telecommunications service companies

Abstract

Work motivation is one of the most important components for obtaining good performance from workers, which directly influences their productivity and commitment within the organization.
This study analyzes the relationship between motivation and work performance in telecommunications companies in the city of Machala, through a qualitative-quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional approach. A structured questionnaire was applied, evaluating the variables with different dimensions such as extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, affiliation, job security, assigned functions, work environment and satisfaction.
The results indicate that there is a high and significant positive correlation between the two variables. However, deficiencies were identified in some dimensions, revealing the urgent need to improve a circuit of human talent management strategies.
Considering that motivation influences different sectors, but its impact varies according to the organizational context and business culture. To this end, it is recommended that future research incorporate longitudinal methodologies to analyze the evolution of motivation and its impact over time, in addition to considering qualitative approaches to delve deeper into workers' perceptions.
