COVID – 19 and its impact on the automotive sector in Ecuador

Abstract
The study is based on the impact for the automotive sector caused by the pandemic and the economic effects that the world is going through, a new disease (COVID-19) has spread rapidly infecting millions of people and causing death to others, this alarmed all over the world significantly affecting the global economy. All countries have taken protective measures to stop the pandemic, but the effects produced by this SARS-CoV-2 virus have been gigantic, affecting various sectors, among them the automotive industry has been severely hit, generally halting manufacturing, assembly and sale of spare parts, causing major problems in the cash flow of companies, due to the partial stoppage due to the current health emergency.
In this research, the methodology that was applied is a quantitative approach, deductive method, explanatory scope with a non-experimental cross-sectional design, documentary sources from the Association of Automotive Companies of Ecuador (AEADE), National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) were used, Internal Revenue Services of Ecuador (SRI). According to the results obtained in the investigation, it was determined due to the pandemic, sales by units of the automotive sector in 2020 obtained 35.08% less compared to 2019, on the other hand, collections in net sales (Statements 104) of the 12%, with the December 2020 cohort reflecting 42.07% less, corresponding to the total collections in 2019, in view of these effects, the support of the Government in policies for the preservation of capacities and resources, as well as their subsequent strengthening to promote post-pandemic recovery.
