Discrimination in wages for operators and apprentices under the dependency of the workshop master in Ecuador

Abstract
The purpose of the research project is to analyze the particularities of the regulations of Ecuadorian legislation that defend artisan workers and apprentices against wage discrimination, as well as to identify and evaluate the legal, social and economic aspects that lead to granting advantages to the workshop master with respect to other employers, as established by Article 302 of the Labor Code in relation to the provisions of Article 16 of the Law for the Defense of the Artisan. The methodology used was of a qualitative ethnographic type, since it explores, examines and understands the social systems of marginalized groups to contribute to solve problems of inequity in order to provide a solution. The main result was that the Law does not protect those who are not qualified by the National Artisan Defense Board and the Artisan Defense Law, therefore, justifies unequal treatment.

Mgs. Fausto Ricardo Barrera Bravo. His primary studies were carried out at the Hernán Cordero Crespo school, secondary studies at the Benigno Malo and Miguel Moreno Ordoñez schools, his higher studies were carried out at the Catholic University of Cuenca, obtaining the degree of Bachelor of Legal and Social Sciences in the year 2000. He has served as Deputy Director and Director (S) of the Law degree at the Catholic University of Cuenca, where he is currently a full-time professor.
