Abstract

Currently, in Peru and around the world, there are worrying morbidity and mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, there is a high demand for cardiology services, which can lead to significant changes in the perception of a healthy work environment in this service. The objective of this study is to determine the levels of perception of organizational climate according to the gender of healthcare personnel in the cardiology service at a Peruvian public hospital in 2024. An observational, mixed qualitative-quantitative, cross-sectional correlational methodology was applied using the "Organizational Climate Survey," designed and validated by a team of experts from the Technical Committee on Organizational Climate of the Ministry of Health of Peru. This instrument has been used from 2012 to the present in various healthcare facilities. The population consisted of 87 workers, comprised of 26 physicians, 20 nurses, 21 technicians, and 20 medical residents. A total of 82 workers participated in this research. For the statistical analysis of results, an application also created by the Ministry of Health of Peru was used. When evaluating the organizational climate, the score was 81.32 out of a total of 112, which qualifies it as "in need of improvement." Both genders prioritize the variables in the following order: 1) Organizational design, 2) Human potential, and 3) Organizational culture. Furthermore, employees' sense of identity is high, even though the remuneration and reward dimensions are unfavorable. The study concludes that there are no significant differences in the perception of the organizational climate by gender.
