Psychometric properties of the Plutchik scale in Ecuadorian Red Cross volunteers
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Plutchik scale is a widely used instrument for the evaluation of suicidal risk, the aim of this research was to determine the psychometric properties of this questionnaire in volunteers, for which a descriptive, factorial, non-experimental and cross-sectional study was conducted in 288 volunteers of the Ecuadorian Red Cross, aged between 18 and 67 years, 58.3% of whom were women. An exploratory factor analysis was carried out obtaining a 3-factor model with a total explained variance of 34.4%, the model was validated by means of a confirmatory factor analysis finding a good fit index and adequate values in the CFI, TLI, SRMR and RMSEA measures, in addition a good reliability was found with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.82 of the total scale, in conclusion the test presented adequate psychometric properties in the evaluated population, coincidences and discrepancies with other studies of psychometric properties with this instrument are discussed.
