Abstract

The aim of this scientific article was to carry out a psycho-pedagogical assessment of emotional development in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through a systematic review. For this purpose, exhaustive searches were carried out in databases such as Science Direct, PubMed, PsycINFO and ERIC, as well as in other reliable sources, using related keywords. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established to select relevant studies and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to assess the quality of the selected studies. In total, 155 studies were reviewed and 110 were included in the study. A qualitative approach was applied in the analysis and processing of the data, extracting relevant information from the selected studies and organizing it in a structured database. Patterns, trends and findings related to the psycho-pedagogical assessment of emotional development in children with ASD were identified. The results obtained from the systematic review indicate the relevance and importance of psychoeducational assessment in the adequate emotional development of these children. We conclude that psychoeducational assessment plays a fundamental role in the emotional development of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The results of this study support the efficacy of this approach in improving the emotional skills of these children. The importance of early intervention based on psycho-pedagogical assessment to favor their emotional development is highlighted. It is recommended to implement early detection and assessment programs to guarantee a timely and adequate intervention, providing these children with the necessary tools for an adequate emotional development. As future research proposals, it is suggested to conduct a long-term follow-up of the study participants to evaluate the long-term effects of psychoeducational assessment on the emotional development of children with ASD. In addition, the effectiveness of complementary therapeutic approaches in combination with psychoeducational assessment can be explored to further improve the emotional developmental outcomes of these children.
