Environmental impact of hospital waste in the canton of Jipijapa

Abstract
The inappropriate use of hospital waste puts human health and the environment at risk. Based on what was stated, the objective of the research was to analyze the environmental impact of hospital waste in the Jipijapa canton. The methodology was oriented under the mixed approach, descriptive design, bibliographic and field type, whose study area was the Basic Hospital, the empirical method was used, direct observation, the survey and the interview were used as data collection techniques. information. Among the main findings, it was found that the procedures for waste disposal are met with weaknesses, there is a deficiency in management, using inappropriate containers and incorrect internal transport due to the large amount of medical waste that is generated daily, with an environmental impact that it affects the inert physical environment, the three environmental components that are: air, land and water, and in the sociocultural environment, in the human aspect, health and occupational safety. It is concluded that there are flaws in waste management, so the creation of a multidisciplinary team is recommended to control and inspect hospital waste management procedures.
